Pax vobiscum, y’all

Recently, a young person on facebook asked me if I am a Christian. In the political context of the question, it was clear that she thought she knew the answer. In a sense, I suppose she does. I am not a Christian who believes that Jesus only loves Christians. I am not a Christian who believes that Jesus wants us to persecute other religions while whining that my religion is being persecuted. I am not a Christian who uses “love the sinner, hate the sin” as an excuse to exercise my “religious freedom” by denying LGBTQI people the same rights as any American. I am not a Christian who believes that God gives us the right to bear arms. I am not a Christian who believes women are second class citizens. I am not a Christian who believes that Jesus loves America more than any other country. I am not a Christian who believes that white people are God’s chosen. I am not a christian, but I am a Christian. Here endeth the lesson. Pax vobiscum, y’all.
